Creation of Inspection lot without a reference document, Stock transfer from different storage locations within the same plant and different plants

 The movement type used to create an inspection lot without any reference is 501. In earlier versions of SAP, this could be done using transaction code MB1C. However, in SAP S/4HANA, MB1C is obsolete, and the same activity is now performed using transaction code MIGO.

The prerequisites required to perform this activity is activation of 05 inspection type in the material master and post to inspection stock should be enabled for the stock to move to quality inspection

What happens if the post to inspection stock is unchecked in the material master setup? Will the inspection lot be created? Where will the stock move?

1. To execute this senario go to MIGO tcode and enter the required details, make sure that the movement type selected is 501.

Select Goods Receipt and Other in the dropdown

2. Enter the material , plant, storage location and other necessary details and post the document.

3. Post the document to check where the stock moves

4. An inspection lot is created but the stock is in unrestricted use

Here the stock posting will be done from the unrestricted use to other stock type other than QI.

If the POST TO INSPECTION STOCK is checked then after the goods receipt the stock will move to QI and the inspection lot created for that has to be processed in order to perform stock posting from the QI.

Stock transfer between different storage locations within the plant.

1. The movement type used to perform this activity is 311. Go to tcode MIGO and select 'Transfer Posting' and 'Other' in the dropdown. But before that make sure to extend the plant to the destination storage location and enter details as shown below and post the document.

2. Now the stock is moved from MFG sloc to Airport sloc as shown below

3. Stock is moved to QI because the inspection type 08 is active and it has post to inspection stock activated

Stock transfer from one plant to another plant

Here the requirement is to transfer the stock from plant UK11 to plant UK12. The movement type used will be 301. Enter details as shown below and post the document.

The stock will move to the destination plant UK12. Here I have not set up the 08 inspection type for the material in the destination plant. Hence the stock moved to unrestricted use
